Trying Our Best When It Feels Impossible
When everything feels stuck
There are times—especially for some people during the winter—when everything starts to feel stuck. Motivation drops, the days blur together, and even the smallest tasks can feel heavy.
In these moments, going to an event—or even taking care of your basic needs—can feel like too much.
If this is where you are, I want to say: I see you.
You might be in what I lovingly call “the void.” That space where it’s hard to see what’s ahead, but you’re still here, still existing.
What “The Void” Can Feel Like
The void isn’t just about low motivation—it’s about disconnection, uncertainty, and a sense of being untethered.
If you try to jump too far ahead in your mind, it can start to feel impossible that you’ll ever feel differently. That you’ll ever get there.
But you can.
Not all at once—but slowly, gently, and in ways that actually feel doable.
How to Move Forward (Without Overwhelming Yourself)
When everything feels impossible, the goal isn’t big change—it’s small, actionable behaviors that help you build momentum and reconnect with a sense of safety.
Get Back to Basics
Start with the small, often overlooked ways we take care of ourselves:
Taking a shower
Washing your face
Changing your clothes
Drinking water
Sitting up or getting out of bed
It might seem simple—even silly—but this is where we begin.
These actions help you shake off stagnant energy and remind your body: I’m still here. I’m still moving.
Create a “Roadmap” for Yourself
When you’re in a clearer headspace, take note of what helps you.
Write it down.
Think of it as a gentle plan you can return to when things feel heavy again—a way to guide yourself without having to figure it all out in the moment.
Build Slowly From There
From your basics list, begin to add in things that help you feel more like yourself.
Not things you should do—things that actually support you.
Even if they feel a little challenging at times, they can become anchors that help you find your way back.
You’re Not Failing—You’re Moving Through Something
If you’re in this space right now, it doesn’t mean you’re doing something wrong.
It means you’re in a moment that requires a different pace. A softer approach. A different kind of care.
You don’t have to leap out of it.
You can take your time finding your way through.
You Will Get to the Other Side
Even if it doesn’t feel like it right now—you will get there.
Through small steps. Through showing up in quiet ways. Through reminding yourself, again and again, that you are okay—even if you’re not moving in big ways just yet.
You’ve got this.
